Secretus Historia

Julian has a cult of personality influence upon his students, particularly Henry, and they become totally isolated from the rest of the campus, consumed in the exclusive study of the Classics according to Julian.

Alright, Alright, Alright

It would be hard to find a better representative in Hollywood that many men aspire to be like than Matthew McConaughey. Charming, well-spoken, good looking, sharp dresser and more than anything: original. From the Wild Turkey Bourbon commercials (one of my favorite bourbons) and the Lincoln car commercials to the infamous romantic comedy movies such... Continue Reading →

You Are Strong, You Are Capable

"Beginnings are simple. You take a step forward. If you're going a thousand miles or a hundred yards, it's the same. And maybe endings are simple, too - my finish line, should I succeed in reaching it, is a post pounded into the ice by the United States Geological Survey at the continent's far side, on the edge of the Ross Ice Shelf."

Muad’Dib

“Deep in the human unconscious is a pervasive need for a logical universe that makes sense. But the real universe is always one step beyond login.” – From “The Sayings of Muad’Dib” by the Princess Irulan

Nightmare Spectacular

“What joy and comfort can it give to fully awakened people? Once you accept the truly desperate situation that man is in, you come to see not only that neurosis is normal, but that even psychotic failure represents only a little additional push in the routine stumbling along life’s way. If repression makes an untenable life liveable, self-knowledge can entirely destroy it for some people.”

The Mausoleum of All Hope and Desire

As you get lost in each successive chapter, you might even find a subtle change in your own thought processes outside of the book. Unrelenting Voice

"There is no more time to waste. Hours and days evaporate like creeks in the desert. That's why it's okay to be cruel to yourself as long as your realize you're doing it to become better. We all need thicker skin to improve in life."

Hero with a Thousand Faces

"The book focuses on the concept of the monomyth, a common story in mythology that transcends cultures and religions separated by both time and location. Campbell endorses the theory popularized by Carl Jung that the origin of the monomyth arises from the collective unconscious of humanity."

Apricot Cocktails

"Once a human becomes aware of his existence, he must then define his essence through a series of choices that he makes throughout his life of which he is personally responsible. These choices are neither right nor wrong, they simply are, and a man is free to choose whatsoever he wishes. Any meaning or purpose that comes along the way is that which the individual assigns to his choices, and he is free to assign or not assign meaning to the limitless options available to him daily. The only thing that cannot be shirked is responsibility for the choices made, as it is the choice itself that is the essence of existing."
